About this flight
This was a flight with EgyptAir from London Heathrow Airport to Narita, with a stopover in Cairo, Egypt.
At Heathrow Airport, I used the Singapore Airlines Lounge. Coincidentally, the lounge was airing a live broadcast of the Japan vs. Samoa match from Pool A of the Rugby World Cup 2019, held in Japan.
The EgyptAir Business Class seat was spacious and allowed for a comfortable flight. For dinner, both the main course and dessert were served from a service cart, allowing passengers to choose visually from the available options.

Singapore Airlines Lounge
Although I was told to use the Air Canada Lounge, I decided to visit the Singapore Airlines Lounge on the same floor instead.
The business class section of the Singapore Airlines Lounge offers semi-private seating, making it a comfortable place to relax.

You can pour your own wine, while beers and cocktails in the fridge are available upon request from the staff.

Meal I Had
Here’s what I had in the lounge:
- • Stir-fried flat noodles
- • Stewed chicken and vegetables
Rugby World Cup
While enjoying my food and drinks, I watched the Rugby World Cup broadcast in the lounge — the Japan vs. Samoa match on October 5, 2019.
Second Meal
I went for seconds:
- • Chicken curry (loaded with chili!)
- • Two ice cream cups
Ice Cream
This ice cream was quite unique:
- • Singapore Sling flavor
- • Madagascar Vanilla flavor
The Singapore Sling is a signature cocktail of Singapore, made from dry gin, cherry brandy, and pineapple juice. Turning it into an ice cream flavor? Pretty impressive!

Business Class Seat
This is a business class seat, which reclines to nearly 180 degrees for lie-flat comfort.
Inside the Business Class Cabin
The business class cabin has a 2-3-2 layout. While not a private suite, the seats are large and spacious for sitting and relaxing.
Message Stickers
These are stickers you can place on your seat to notify the cabin crew during sleep:
- • Please wake me for meals.
- • No meal, do not disturb.
- • Please wake me for duty-free sales.
Seat Pitch
Here is the view of the seat in front. There’s plenty of legroom, allowing for a relaxed seating experience.
Welcome Drink
I received pineapple juice as a welcome drink.
Since Egypt is an Islamic country and Islam is the state religion, EgyptAir does not serve alcohol. Only soft drinks are available.
Amenity Bag
This is the amenity bag I received. It was made of leather and of high quality—definitely a nice souvenir.
In-Flight After Takeoff
After takeoff, passengers were enjoying entertainment on their personal screens.
Table Setting
As meal service began, a white tablecloth was laid out on the tray table.
Appetizer
This was the appetizer plate:
- • Bread
- • Cheese and grapes
- • Green salad
- • Middle Eastern-style hummus made from chickpeas
Main Course Cart
The main course was served from a cart, allowing passengers to see and choose their meal. This old-style service was common among airlines in the past but has become rare since the 2000s.
- There were three choices:
- • Chicken dish
- • Beef dish
- • Shrimp dish
Meal I Chose
I selected the chicken dish:
- • Possibly chicken teriyaki
- • Sliced carrots wrapped in green beans
- • Grilled tomato
- • French toast
Dessert Cart
The dessert service cart included:
- • Fruit (mango, kiwi, blood orange, grapes, pineapple, strawberries, etc.)
- • Cakes
- • Coffee and tea
Dessert I Had
Here is what I chose for dessert:
- • Cake
- • Fruits (blood orange, kiwi, pineapple, grapes, strawberries)
- • Egyptian black tea ("Shai")

Arrival in Cairo
I arrived in Cairo. The flight from London to Cairo was about 4 to 4.5 hours. It felt like we arrived in no time after enjoying the in-flight meal.
In the background, you can see many people holding placards—these are assistants who help passengers with immigration procedures. Egypt’s immigration process can be a bit complicated, so for around 5,000 yen, you can pay for their assistance.
Airport Lounge
Since I wasn’t entering the country, I headed to the airport lounge in Cairo.
This one is called the “Alioth Lounge.”

More food items available in the lounge:
- • Sandwiches
- • Curry and rice
- • A stew of chicken and vegetables

It’s the same seat type as the one I used on the London–Cairo leg.
Seat View
I’ve taken my seat.
Possibly an Egyptian Amulet
This decorative frame was displayed near the front lavatory of the cabin.
It could be an Islamic or Egyptian amulet—likely something symbolic to wish for a safe journey.
Welcome Drink
I was served tomato juice as a welcome drink.
Amenity Bag
I received an amenity bag.
It’s the same as the one I received on the London–Cairo flight.
Stars on the Cabin Ceiling
When the cabin lights were dimmed, “stars” appeared on the ceiling—a service meant to let you fall asleep under a starry sky.
This kind of service is also offered on airlines like Emirates.
On this flight, I actually fell asleep before takeoff, so I unfortunately missed the first meal.
Mid-flight Snack
Since I was asleep and missed the first meal, I was served a snack instead:
- • Sandwich
- • Fruit (grapes, orange, melon)
- • Cherry tomatoes
- • Coca-Cola
Tablecloth
A tablecloth was laid out for the meal.
I believe the drink served here was guava juice.
Breakfast – Starter and Dessert
This is the breakfast plate served before landing:
- • Cheese and ham

- • Bread
Breakfast – Main Dish
The main course for breakfast included:
- • Possibly an Egyptian meat pie
- • Bread

- • Cake
- • Tea
- ...and more.
Arrival in Narita
I arrived safely in Narita.
