About this flight

This was my flight returning to Haneda in ANA First Class from New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport.

Due to a severe cold wave and heavy snow, the departure was delayed by about six hours. Since I was quite sleepy after boarding, I decided to skip the full-course meal and instead had the Japanese breakfast set that is usually served in the morning.

After enjoying some light snacks later, I had the Western full-course meal before arrival, featuring caviar and a beef steak.

AirTrain JFK

エアトレインJFK

From Manhattan, I took the subway to Jamaica Station and then transferred to the AirTrain JFK, the automated people mover system, to reach John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). The AirTrain JFK runs on a linear induction motor system, operating driverless 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

JFK has eight terminals, and this board shows which airlines operate out of each terminal. The AirTrain JFK provides access to all terminals.

Amuse-bouche

アミューズ

This was the amuse-bouche. For this flight, I chose to have à la carte dishes first, and then enjoy the full-course meal before landing. The reason was that due to a severe cold wave in New York, the departure was delayed for about six hours, so I decided to sleep early after boarding. A flight attendant kindly suggested, “How about trying something from the à la carte menu?”

Arrival Delay of About 3 Hours

3時間程遅延

This is the arrivals board I saw after landing at Haneda Airport.

My flight NH109 from New York JFK was originally scheduled to arrive at 21:10, but the board showed “00:19” as the current arrival time.

Although departure was delayed by six hours, the actual delay upon arrival turned out to be about three hours.

The two flight attendants in the photo are from Asiana Airlines. Back in 2018, their uniforms still included hats, unlike today.
